Driving Guidance for Concrete Mixer Trucks
Time:2018-06-11

Not all drivers are qualified enough to drive concrete mixer trucks, inappropriate operation of which may lead to turnover of a truck or excessive wearing of its hydraulic pump, motor or speed reducer. Sometimes it even causes serious traffic accidents. That’s why concrete mixer trucks are called “street killers” in some regions. To extend a truck’s service life and avoid accidents, a driver should follow the driving guidance below.

  1. Operation handle of the mixing tank should be in “stop” direction before you start up a truck.

  2. Keep the mixing tank rotating at least 10 minutes before having it work. In that case, the hydraulic oil will come to a temperature required for normal operation.

  3. If a concrete mixer truck has been kept outdoors, before loading it with concrete, you must have the mixing tank rotate reversely until possible water and alien materials get out completely.

  4. Before driving a truck into roads you must check that its sliding chute is stably fixed, otherwise its swaying may influence other vehicles or even injury people during traveling.

  5. On flat roads you should keep the mixing tank rotating about 2 or 3 rounds per minute. The largest rotating speed should be within 10 rounds a minute. While on extremely bumpy or inclined roads, the tank should be kept still until you get to roads of better surface.

  6. No long rotating pause of the mixing tank during concrete delivery, or else the concrete may get collapsed. In case of unusual states of concrete, you must contact the control room at once.

  7. A loaded concrete mixer truck should not stay at the construction site longer than one hour. If you wait for more than an hour without discharging the concrete, you can ask site engineers for help.
